Not sure which one but before Hurricane Sandy. I jog here all the time and many times I will not see a car. Anyway, about a half mile rom where I park I came over a little rise and I saw a what I thought was a hiker through the very dense fog/mist. He had a huge backpack with a sleeping bag on top. I turned around because I jog for time and many times will turn around when I see people etc. just for the solitude and to get it over with. I reached my car finished up my time and walked back and forth for cool down for about 10-15 minutes. The hiker never appeared. It was strange because unless he turned around he should have passed me. I drove a few miles down the road and saw nothing. One side is the Delaware and the other is deep forest with really no trails. I have never seen any hikers on this road before and it really a great route for someone on any thru hike with such elaborate equipment. Hikers are on my mind as my two sons an I were finishing up the Appalachian Trail in New York at this time we have hiked about 200 Miles of the trail and know a lot
about it. I really did not think much about it until reading of encounters in this area for many years
many times in Oct.. Then recently my boys and I were hiking and found the carcass of a dead family dog probably coyotes and large footprints on Upper Ridge Trail probably melted snow. I have pictures of both. The hiker just did not make sense and the more I picture it the more I think it could have been a head with no neck making it really tall. I also wonder about your subconscious because I have passed hundreds of hikers but this one had me really move towards my car. It is all probably paranoia but I have spent a lot of time in the woods and this was strange. One last thing, when we hike I do get the feeling of being watched. Here and in High Point State Park especially. My youngest son has Autism and does not speak but loves to hike. I had read there may be a connection I really cannot say because Autism really is very puzzling.

Priority Level::

Normal 2-5 years

Time and Place: Year: 2012 Month: October Day of Month (number only – e.g. 16): 1-15 Time of Day: 6 or so County: New Jersey Sussex Conditions: Terrain Description: Delaware Water Gap Federal Forest Lighting Conditions: Sun just coming up extremely foggy Nearest Town or Landmark: Old mine Road Milford Bridge Description of Encounter Area: […]

[30
