The
first one he saw was estimated at 9 feet and dark furred, got a good look at the creature covered with hair except for face, backs of hand and feet. The 9 footer made a few gestures at him before calling out to the smaller one, 6-7 footer, lighter hair, ran notably faster than the larger one, “faster than a deer’, but ran like a human, had a face like a human, not an ape. Witness claims the two creatures exclaimed vocalizations of multiple types, including “whoops”. Finally the larger one pointed at the witness and the two creatures ran off in opposite directions away from the witness. He claimed he felt they didn’t want to be followed and he left. He also claimed he wants to return to the area, but will not alone. He was afraid they would “Flank him” (hunting lingo?), and then cited some pieces of local folklore wherein people in the woods in the area were found dead by means of having their necks broken.

Assigned Investigator:

Mike Humphrey

Investigator Notes::

The Witness claimed that he had experienced this at the end of shotgun season in 1994, thought in
December, and that he was only able to talk about it in the last few years. The witness was able to give detailed descriptions of the two creatures that he saw and wasn’t sure but felt there might even have been three, but didn’t see any other than the two. He seemed to have educated himself on the local folklore of the Cobble Mountain area regarding potential activity and cited several examples. I will post an addendum to this report with some of that material and will hopefully get a chance to research some of the stories to see if I can find references to them in newspapers and like sources. I have mixed feelings about the report to be honest, but will keep an open mind until such a time as I have a chance to reconnoiter the area myself and see the nature of the area.
