I was driving to work headed towards Albany just passed exit 27 at 430 am or so. When this tall black furry animal like man that ran faster than anything I ever saw right across the thruway way up in front of me. It was so tall it stepped right over the guardrail with no trouble, and ran right up into the woods. It never looked anywhere but forward. It was like it was chasing a deer or something up into the woods on the side of the road. It could not have been a dear or any type of animal I have ever seen before. It looked like an ape standing strait up as it ran. It ran faster than a man could. It could not have been a man because there were no houses in the area, and people are not allowed to walk by the thruway day or night

While hiking with my family at Letchworth state park, we kept hearing noises coming from the
surrounding woods off from trail #2. After 15 minutes or so of walking with caution we came to a turn in the trail and looked towards the end of the continuing trail. I saw a huge silhoutte move and stop at the end of the continuing trail. It was dark brown in color. I inmediately told the girls to keep the kids together and move faster towards the turn in the trail without telling them what I have seen. We were in the middle of the woods with 3 kids and two babies, the last thing I wanted at this point was to get everybody scare. As we walked away from the path I proceeded to take a picture of the trail and I belive there is something clearly seeing in the picture once you maximize or amplify the view. I’ll send you the picture and you tell me. I believe there was something following us close and observing my family as we walk deeper into the woods and my wife confirms the sounds of breaking branches we heard as well.

Encounter::

Number of Witnesses: 1
Length of Observation: about 5 minutes
Animal Description: I never saw the animals, I was too scared to look out the windows of the
converted school bus because of the “keening” sounds and the vibrations of the ground near me.
Aprox. Height: no knowledge
Aprox. Weight: had to have been heavy, at least two animals

I was at our old school bus that we used as a base for deer hunting. We owned over 150 acres which joined over 1000 acres of uninhabited land owned by different families in this area.
This was about a week before deer season opened. I had come up to camp to spend Saturday night/and most of the day Sunday. no one had spent the night there since the previous deer season. The only items I had with me were a baby ben alarm clock, and a flashlight. I had had a wood fire burning in the camp stove. When the fire died down I climbed in my sleeping bag in the old army cot I slept in, in the back of the bus. It was a very clear, moonlit night. I had almost fallen asleep when I heard what I can only describe as a high pitched keening sound. and it was coming closer to my camp.
Then I heard another sound answering the first one. I heard the first calling and the second on
answering with the same kind of keening noise. within a matter of minutes I felt the ground in the
nearby clearing shaking, it felt like whatever was making the keening noise must have been very heavy, either that or I was so afraid by the noises I heard that I was trembling. These two whatever they were
were drawing closer to the school bus, like they knew I was there and were investigating me. Finally, I decided that I would make the alarm clock ring to scare them away. I didnt even dare to raise my head from the bed, I was so scared. I wound the clock and set the alarm off. As soon as I did the keening got louder and their footfall was right outside the bus. I was so scared I actually passed out from fear. The next thing I knew several hours had passed and daylight was breaking. I never heard or saw these creatures again, and I never told anyone about my experiences until just a few years ago, I told my wife, son and daughter about it.

Time and Place:

Year: 1995
Month: November
Time of Day: late afternoon
County: New York Essex

Conditions:

Terrain Description: heavily wooded, tall dense forest.
Lighting Conditions: excellent, sunny cold day
Nearest Town or Landmark: Lincoln pond, near Elizabethtown
Description of Encounter Area: Very quiet country road. Almost no traffic, as it is off season in the
Adirondacks at that time of season. No homes nearby, just forest, thick and dense.
Are There Food and/or Water Sources in the Area? (if so, describe): there are ample water and
food to support all kinds of local wildlife.

Witness Overview:

Occupation/Background: I lived in the Adirondacks for all of my life. Just recently relocating to Florida. I am an artist, I worked for two local newspapers in upstate ny, and various other parttime jobs. I hiked, camped, fished and wandered through the woods and spent many wonderful hours in the forests of ny. What I saw that day will be with me forever, as well as my husband who was with me. I saw a creature that appeared more human than animal, and unlike any other animal I have ever seen in the northern woods..

Encounter::

Number of Witnesses: 2
Length of Observation: we stopped our vehicle and watched as the creature stepped into the
highway, turned to look in our direction and then slowly move off the other side of the road, about two minutes I would say. We drove up to the spot where it disappeared into the forest, but could see nothing of it after that. Animal Description: it was about 5 to 6 ft tall, had dark fur, long arms that hung down and swung as it stepped forward, it turned its whole upper body when it turned to look at our car. I told my husband that it looked like an ape, and that is about as close an animal that I could compare it to.
Aprox. Height: 5 to 6 ft
Head/Facial Description: ape like
as described above, we viewed this from our vehicle at a fairly close proximity. Close enough to know it was not a bear or any other animal that I have ever seen in the Adirondacks. It remained in our view for two minutes and then casually walked off into the woods, leaving us stunned and confused as to what it was that we had just seen. It walked upright, arms gently swinging at its sides, turning to look in our direction before going on its way back into the forest.

Year: 1982
Month: September
Day of Month (number only – e.g. 16): Labor Day Weekend 1982
Time of Day: Sighting took place between 12:30pm and 1:30pm
County: New York Hamilton

Conditions:

Terrain Description: Heavily wooded area around T-Lake (many types of trees, but
mostly pines).
Lighting Conditions: Beautiful sunny day (mid-day sun), blue skies, absolutely a clear sunny day.
Nearest Town or Landmark: Piseco Lake, NY
GPS Coordinates: unknown (GPS didn’t exist at the time)
Description of Encounter Area: South shore of T-Lake, just east of the clearing at the end of the
northerly direction of the trail, where it veers westward toward T-Lake Falls. The spot was approximately
50 to 70 feet east of the clearing (The clearing is where normally tents are set by campers).
Are There Food and/or Water Sources in the Area? (if so, describe): The area is known for many
forms of wildlife. We had seen chipmunks, bear, a beaver, and deer in the area before and after this trip.
(I returned to this site in 1985). Water is plentiful lakeside, as well as in some small streams & brooks
near the trail.

Witness Overview:

Occupation/Background: Educator

Encounter::

Number of Witnesses: 1 (myself) viewed the creature, although many of us in our
group heard the “wood-knocking” incident that occurred on our hike to T-Lake very close by, the first day.
Length of Observation: Approximately 4 to 5 minutes
Animal Description: What I observed was the back and back arms of a gorilla-like creature, robust-
looking, from the waist to the shoulders. I had seen many bears and gorillas at several zoos in New York City, where we lived. What I saw was a shiny black-haired creature’s back, extremely large. It would have stood, I estimate, at 7 to 8 feet tall, assuming it had a “normal head” proportionate to the body that I observed. It’s head was hidden beneath the branches of a pine tree. He was about 30 feet away, just behind a row of bushes that lined the lakeshore in that area. The bushes were about 4.5 to 5 feet tall from the ground, and I could clearly see its waist, back and back arms and elbows
Aprox. Height: The shoulders stood about 6 to 6.5 feet above the ground where it stood. He would
have been 7 to 8 feet tall counting his head.
Aprox. Weight: It looked heavy, about 600 lbs, maybe more, I estimate.
Head/Facial Description: Could not see its head or facial features, but his body (what I could see of it)
was definitely hairy, with shiny black hair, probably about 4 to 6 inches long.
Can Witness Provide a Sketch of Animal Seen?: Yes
Any Odor? If so, Description: No particularly strange odor emanating at the time, except that of pine
trees, I recall.
Vocalizations Heard?: None
Wood Knocks Heard?: Yes
Recordings Made?: No
It was probably the first or second complete day we spent at T-Lake’s south shore; we were a group of about 10 to 12 persons, some going on their first camping trip in their lives. I decided to take a mid-day swim, not far from the group, while many of my friends volunteered to look for wood and help cook lunch for us all. I swam about 50 feet east of where we set the tents (we set camp right on the clearing where the trail veers westward parallel to the south shore of T-Lake, after coming northward right to that clearing on the south shore). I swam around lazily swimming around and floating on my back, with my head partially in the water up to my ears. At one point I looked toward the shore and I froze in fear, momentarily. I thought, “A BEAR!” But almost immediately, I said to myself “That doesn’t look like a bear.” I kept quiet, because I thought, “That looks like the back of a very large gorilla!” The more I quietly observed it, the more I was convinced it wasn’t a black bear. After all, I was tired of seeing the bears at the Central Park Zoo and at the Bronx Zoo, and I had seen the gorillas there too. I then began thinking, “What is he doing?” It almost seemed like he was hiding his face within the pine branches so he wouldn’t be seen, like a child would do. I remember thinking to myself, “This can’t be a BIGFOOT creature, since they are supposingly inhabiting the forests of the Pacific Northwest USA, and are not found in New York.” (I had read a little about Bigfoot, Nessie and other monsters in a book I recall, “The Maybe Monsters” by an author whose last name was ‘Gardner’ or ‘Garner,’ when I was in Junior High School. So I was somewhat familiar with the legend of Bigfoot.
Anyway, I was terrified that if I made noise, it might see me and jump in the water and attack me. I
stayed in the water trying to stay afloat for a few minutes, but I realized I couldn’t do this forever. I
started praying that whatever that thing was, it would not hear or see me. Nevertheless, I thought it
strange that it had not seen me when I initially arrived at the spot, since I had been thrashing around in the water. After at least 4 or 5 minutes, I decided that I was going to swim ever so gently so as not to create any sound, so I could get back to the group that was still busy cooking and working the fire. When I finally reached the group, I was helped up to shore and I immediately told the group that there was something big, an animal, over that area (I pointed there). My sister and some friends asked, “what kind of animal was it, a bear?” I knew it wasn’t a bear, but I thought that I would be judged as a ridiculous fantasizer if I told them what I knew I had seen. So I answered, ” I think it was a bear…. I don’t know for sure. Just go out there and see for yourselves.” About three of the male friends went a few feet east, but nowhere near where I was urging them to go and see. Their curiosity was short-lived. I warned them just to keep an eye open, and not to venture off alone or far from the group.
Important to note: when we were hiking toward T-Lake, we made several stops to rest on the trail.
During one of the stops, I looked up to notice something very strange. It was a very tall tree that had a thick branch protruding about 12 feet about the ground. The branch was partially twisted and broken, but not completely. It was at least 7 inches in diameter, and it was a healthy tree. I could see the yellowish white and green color of the fiber where the break was. I made mention to some friends that it was strange, that it seemed like someone or something heavy reached the branch and tried to break it off, or maybe hung from the branch before trying to twist it off to break it. During the next resting stop on our hike, we were perplexed by the noise, very close by, of something like someone hitting a large tree with another piece of wood, or like the sound made when you use a thick carton tube to hit a tree or a wooden object. We heard it just above the cliffs to the right (east) of the trail. We got an uneasy feeling when I mentioned that the sound was not of someone using an axe to shop wood, and that there were no houses, I was sure, in that area. (I verified this with a Park Ranger when we came down from T-Lake the final day and shared our concerns about what we had heard and seen during our hike. Normally, campers would camp near the lake, where they’d have access to water.
The ranger explained that there weren’t any houses near the trail to T-Lake for many miles.
It was only a couple of years ago (2007) that I read about what Bigfoot investigators call the “wood- kocking” behavior. I’ve since heard some recordings of these, and definitely they sound like what we heard on our way to T-Lake during that trip. I’ve only recently read that Bigfoot sightings are common in various parts of the Adirondack Mountain State Park (near Sabbath Day Point off Lake George, for example, and Washington and Warren counties). This is why I am sharing this experience with you.

I was hiking in the Adirondacks alone just to get away from everyday activities. I was just scouting
around the state land and came into an area with tall pines that looked like an old stand that had been planted not wildly grown. I smelled something that wasn’t right with the pine smell that usually
acompanies a grove of pines. It smelled of a musty cellar or a stagnant swamp. Then I noticed someone walking away from me about 30 yards away. Only the someone was very tall and covered with brownish hair. It walked hunched over with long swinging arms and at least a 4 foot stride. I whistled to it and it just kept moving, never looking back. I immediately followed it to look for tracks but the dry grounds and pine needles yielded no impressions. I would have followed it further but wasn’t armed at the time and wasn’t taking any chances.

I was born and raised in that area.I have hunted all my life in that area.I have seen all the animals in the area even those rare ones.I was headed to work as usual at a high rate of speed. You have to be extremely aware on everything because of all the deer and such jumping out at you.I myself have hit few  deer..So your always paying extrem attention. When I approached the stop sign to wihch I always make a rolling stop.I saw the eyes reflect my head lights which drew my attenyion to look. When I looked to the right of me where my head lights were still on him.I saw an out line of him and starred more. The way the head lights hit him you could see his hair was reddish.I said to myself I just saw big foot.Although I know its against the law I was always speed on this road and my senses are always high. When I came home from work during daylight hours though I had shrugged off what I had seen in the dark I still looked over to where I had seen it.Even though I thought It was really big that night after looking in the day I realized he was down in an inbankment and I was only seeing him from his knees up.I think the only reason I had even caught him in my lights is becuase of the high rate of speed I travel.I would never even tell the guys I hunt with because I know they will make fun.

Even today we jokingly refer to the time we found the “bigfoot tracks”, but I never had a better explanation.
