I was jogging in the early morning on Sunday October? Not sure which one but before Hurricane Sandy. I jog here all the time and many times I will not see a car. Anyway, about a half mile rom where I park I came over a little rise and I saw a what I thought was a hiker through the very dense fog/mist. He had a huge backpack with a sleeping bag on top. I turned around because I jog for time and many times will turn around when I see people etc. just for the solitude and to get it over with. I reached my car finished up my time and walked back and forth for cool down for about 10-15 minutes. The hiker never appeared. It was strange because unless he turned around he should have passed me. I drove a few miles down the road and saw nothing. One side is the Delaware and the other is deep forest with really no trails. I have never seen any hikers on this road before and it really a great route for someone on any thru hike with such elaborate equipment. Hikers are on my mind as my two sons an I were finishing up the Appalachian Trail in New York at this time we have hiked about 200 Miles of the trail and know a lot
about it. I really did not think much about it until reading of encounters in this area for many years
many times in Oct.. Then recently my boys and I were hiking and found the carcass of a dead family dog probably coyotes and large footprints on Upper Ridge Trail probably melted snow. I have pictures of both. The hiker just did not make sense and the more I picture it the more I think it could have been a head with no neck making it really tall. I also wonder about your subconscious because I have passed hundreds of hikers but this one had me really move towards my car. It is all probably paranoia but I have spent a lot of time in the woods and this was strange. One last thing, when we hike I do get the feeling of being watched. Here and in High Point State Park especially. My youngest son has Autism and does not speak but loves to hike. I had read there may be a connection I really cannot say because Autism really is very puzzling.

I was relieved from duty on drill weekend I was siting in a Humvee talking to my wife on the phone when I told her I noticed something very big and dark waddling back and forth about 40 feet from me that appeared to be looking in my direction I knew it was not another soldier since I was the only one there at the time everybody lees was over 200 meters from my location I told my wife I thought it was a bear until I realized that I could make out the siluete it was wide and tall I would say about 6 to7 feet tall with a dome type head my wife said to shine my flash light on it but I felt the hair stand up on the back of my neck it watch me for about what seemed to be 10 to 15 mins then I saw movement as it started to run off pass the Humvee I could hear the thump of it running past me on the hard ground tell you the truth as much as I wanted to shine a light on it I was scared silly my wife could not believe what I saw. 5am the next morning I went back but since the ground was hard there were no visible footprints.

It was friday of Memorial day weekend 2011. A friend and I had nothing to do so I suggested we head out to the pine barrens to go “bigfooting” We had never done this before but I had recently become interested in the topic so we decided to give it a try. So we drove to Batsto historic village in NJ. We parked around 730ish and then hiked out along the Batona trail. After about 2 miles it was getting dark so we decided to stop and set up shop just off the trail. The Batona trail parallels the Batsto river for several miles in that particular area of Wharton State Forest, so we were close to the river. Anyway, we sat in silence for about 30-45 min to let darkness completely settle in. Then at 9pm we started doing wood knocks. We did one or two knocks every 15-20 minutes. Around 945-10 we did our 4th set of knocks. Then exactly 1 minute later there was 2 quick and loud clacks off a tree about 40-50 yrds away.
We waited anxiously for about 45 seconds and then I “whooped” in its direction. Then maybe 15
seconds later it slowed ripped a large off a tree and threw it to the ground. At that point we were pretty scared so we turned on our flashlights but unfortunately there was a large wall of under brush and small tree/bushes right in front of us so we could not see in its direction….and we didn’t have the balls to walk around the brush to get a better look so we got out of there. I guess I should also note that aside from a few chirps from birds here and there it was completely silent. We never heard the animal approach or leave….it was just the isolated knocks and branch break which we recorded. We have been out there almost every weekend since and have not any similar experiences.
