I was 15 years old living with my Grand Mother in Columbus In. I
would walk to the small creek alone many times to go fishing, This one summer evening I had just
caught a large crappie as it was getting late and stayed to try to catch more, I did not have a stringer to tie the fish and layed it on the bank a put a flat rock on top of it. As I kept on fishing I was about 30 or so ft from a bridge, the moon was full and was my only light, I started to hear sounds like twigs breaking coming from the direction of the bridge, the sounds become more louder and I stated to become scared all though I did not see anything but could hear the noise. I picked up my fish and left and went to the top of the bridge and threw my fish line from there and continued , the bridge was not very high from the water, all at once a very large hairy dark animal ran out from under the bridge, I looked like a ape to me it had long arms and was running on two feet, It was making a lot of noise that scared me more ,Not vocal but hitting small trees and breaking them as it ran, I ran also. I did not even wind up my fish pole but ran with string dragging behind me. I lost the fish as I did not pick it up. I ran all the way home , I told my Grand mother She thought it was a bear. I never believed that it was a bear it did not look like
one to me

Animal Description: all I was able to see was the bottom of its foot as it kicked under the water after it
had entered the water behind us it was all very quick

Any Odor? If so, Description: don’t remember smelling anything bad like a stink or anything
Vocalizations Heard?: something that sounded like an owl, at the time I didn’t think anything of it. but
it could have been something on the other side of the river calling something back from where we were with all the all the fireflies we had been canoeing all day and were headed back to the car. being that we didn’t plan to be gone as long as we were we didn’t bring a flash light or lantern. My mistake I’ll never do that again. she had to go to the bathroom and i could have to i told her we would pull over at this bend int the river where i had camped before. when we got to it we pulled up and got out the were millions of fireflies covering this one large area of vines hanging from all the trees it was incredible. she walked a few steps off and I in the other direction and releaved ourselves. we both walked back to the canoe sitting on the river side and I was looking at the moon and she started to rub my shoulders I thought yes i might get lucky here in a minute if ya know what i mean.;-) when all of a sudden I hear something hit the beach and then enter the water woosh woosh splash like it had two legs not four. this was all about 15 feet behind us. by the time I spun around, at the slash all I was able to see was what looked like a large foot kick and then disappear under the water. we both stood there for a second looking at each other and saying what the f#@k was that? Then I thought we have to get out of here right now and the only way was the river and the canoe so we jumped in and started to paddle away very quickly. as we did something he impression that if it wanted to it
could have. It threw about five really big rocks in all lots of base when they hit the water so i know they where big and the bank on the other side was like 30ft away or more so it was stronger than a man and bears and bobcats don’t throw rocks. as we paddled away at top speed, whatever that is in a canoe I could here it follow us for two hundred feet or so coming through the woods, snapping branches as it followed us. eventually it quit following and we got back to the car and got the hell out of there
