Conditions:

Terrain Description: Hilly forest land (All information occurs in the historical 1890s
sighting.) 2007 sighting was seen by some parkers on Danbury Quarter Rd. i.e. the town breeding
ground.
Lighting Conditions: Broad daylight
Nearest Town or Landmark: Winsted, CT Off Lowsaw Rd.
Description of Encounter Area: Edge of forest land. It was blackberry season. This is an historical
sighting. Google “The Winsted Wildman”
Are There Food and/or Water Sources in the Area? (if so, describe): Yes. There are several
streams and springs in the area as well as ponds.

Witness Overview:

Geologist. I am used to going through rough terrain, both day and night.
Never saw this creature, but have seen a mountain lion in the same general location; probably a quarter of a mile from the reported sighting.

Animal Description: A big manlike creature covered with dark fur.
Aprox. Height: 7′
Aprox. Weight: Around 350 – 400 lbs.
Head/Facial Description: Had a face that resembled a large man.

Vocalizations Heard?: Reportedly made a screaming sound.
Wood Knocks Heard?: No

A local farmer and town selectman was picking blackberries with his dog when suddenly the dog started
to growl and this large manlike creature appeared.
