First a musky nasty smell – not like a dead animal but kind of like a wet… I don’t know. Then, a lot of rocks smacking together – different tones at different times. I don’t think they were wood smacks. This lasted about an hour. When we started up the timberjack, it stopped… but we started noticing things landing around us – mostly big acorns. There were no oaks around us. There were some up the hill where the noises were coming from. There was a cave on the site that we had seen days before. It had rocks arranged (small to big) in an orderly fashion a couple feet from the cave opening. This cave was not very big – maybe 10 feet deep by 3 foot wide and 5 foot tall. No tracks or scat seen anywhere. We were at this location for about a week before this stuff had happened. My boss’ mother owns and lives on the 125 acres. Just before this, there was a flood and 17 was shut down. Russell Brook Road had washed out the year before, so there was no short hike to mud pond. I and some other people heard whoops… but everyone said it was coy dogs. My mother lives in Grand Prairie, TX and I have herd lots of coys and have hunted them… They never sounded like what I heard here. I have seen one wolf there with my girlfriend and i swear it weighed 200 lbs. It was HUGE. I know NY says there aren’t any wolves or puma there, but every one has seen them dead or alive there. I tried to tell another group like you all,
but never heard back from them. One more thing… I asked my soon-to-be father-in-law what it was I saw and smelled. He said it was gasses leaking out of the hill and I heard coy dogs along with a rock slide. I DON’T THINK SO. I just want some insight in to this experience I had.
