Was working as a security guard in the early 90’s (either 90-91) not quite sure the year. As noted
before, the area was an abandoned strip mine site that had ceased operations a month earlier yet still had several pieces of expensive equipment and machinery around. It was around 2-4 am somewhere in that area and I ran out of coffee or cups and had to go to a small shed about 30-40 feet from the tiny trailer that I was in to retrieve the items. I had a normal flashlight and the light from the trailer provided a little background light. After retrieving the items and locking the door I heard a twig snap to my right.
The wooded area was about 20 yards from the trailer/shed and circled the entire site. At first I could not see anything in the direction of the noise, then, all of a sudden, this huge dark shape arose from a squatting position, turned and on two feet, bounded into the woods. Tearing through a very thick briar patch and heavy underbrush as if it wasnt even there. I ran back to the trailer grabbed my pistol and sit there the rest of the night until my relief came the next morning. Having read about Sasquatch and been fascinated with the subject since the 70s as a kid watching “Boggy Creek,In Search of etc.” I was both excited and terrified at the same time! I kept trying to convince myself that it was a bear and that I just imagined seeing it take off on two feet. Still,I never told anyone about the sighting until I reported it on another site a couple of years ago. I cannot claim to know what it was, only that it was at least 7 foot tall(I am 6’3 and it was much bigger)and thick chested and bi-pedal. I even thought it could have been friends playing a joke on me..but it was 3 am on top of a mountain and only 1 person knew that I was working at the time. I had always assumed that if the Sasquatch did exist it would be in the northwest US and Canada. Now,I wonder if just maybe they do migrate. I had heard stories of “a wild man of the woods” from my grandmother when she spoke of this man that came out of! the woods when she was a child but never really tied it to Sasquatch. It is a shame that people do not treat this subject more seriously because I am sure that more people have had sightings but, like myself, stayed quiet for fear of ridicule. I have heard many stories from the “old timers” (I am 41)about strange things
they have seen/heard but after this I became very interested in any story of this sort. Well, that is my story. I only wish that I would have known then what I know now. I would have looked for tracks more thoroughly.
